Hospital buildings are used around the clock and need lighting. The issue of illuminating the hospital buildings, as the buildings in which many departments are located, should be approached with great care. For this reason, there are established standards for the lighting of hospitals. The positive effects of lighting quality on human psychology have been proven by many studies and scientific articles. Lighting systems affect the psychological state of patients and their relatives, doctors' working efficiency, occupational safety, energy efficiency, and hygiene. For this reason, a professional approach is required in the lighting of places where natural light cannot reach and even where natural light is not preferred.

The light level should be 200 lux in general waiting areas, 500 lux in examination rooms and 1000 lux in operating theatres.
