Organized for the 26th time this year, the İstanbul Theater Festival opened its doors to art lovers on October 25 with the motto "Theater is in its Place". The festival has been continuing since 1989 and featured many national and international works. The "Theater Festival" which contributes to a great extent to the unification of İstanbul with culture and art, is organized by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV). The Bourgeois Gentleman Remix
As every year, İKSV shared its festival guide this year with art lovers via the E-Catalog. The first screening of the festival, which started on October 25, was The Bourgeois Gentleman Remix. The show, which took place at the Camekan Theater, belongs to the famous playwright of history, Molière. M. Caner ALPER, the winner of the Golden Orange National Film Competition Best Director Award, undertakes the adaptation. Likewise, there are many professional names in the cast of the game. The work, which is a contemporary adaptation of The Bourgeois Gentleman and re-adapted with a modern perspective, is conveyed by adapting Monsieur Jourdain's life adventure within the triangle of love, work, and art to contemporary times.

An Iliad
The show was specially prepared for the 26th Istanbul Theater Festival. The performance, which will be staged at Süreyya Opera House on November 8-9, was inspired by Homer's book Iliad. With this special show, Selçuk YÖNTEM will take us back with a musical reading to the time of the Trojan War, exactly 1500 years ago. The author of the show is the famous Italian Writer Alessandro BARICCO. Written with a modern approach, the piece will be staged with the impressive voice of Selçuk YÖNTEM, while Ece DAĞISTAN SAY will perform the piece specially prepared for this performance by Fazıl SAY.

Even Shahs Are Bound To
Ortaoyuncular, the theater group founded by Ferhan ŞENSOY in 1980, returns to the stage in memory of Ferhan ŞENSOY. The show will take place at Ses Theatre, the historical theater stage of İstanbul. The play, which was first shown in 1980, will be revived within the scope of the festival. After 42 years, at this time the director of the play is Volkan SARIÖZ. The play, which will be staged on November 11-12, tells the adventure of Ömer Hayyam, who got into trouble with the national intelligence agency SAVAK in the 1940s in Iran because of his name similarity. The historical play asks us the question "What is westernization and what is it not?".

Richard
Richard's play joins the İstanbul Theater Festival inspired by Shakespeare's famous work III. Richard. The well-known artist Okan BAYÜLGEN will take part in the festival for the first time, as he undertakes the duties of writing, directing, and acting. The theater with other professional names in the cast will meet with art lovers at Zorlu PSM: Turkcell Stage on November 17.
